The Daily Dose – Cape Romano dome homes ten years apart.

Unique and innovative, the Cape Romano dome homes still stand (kinda).

But mother nature has really pulled the rug out from under them!

Making my final approach onto the tip of Cape Romano in 2011.
The dome homes were still mostly above high tide with lots of beach space all around.

The distinctive dome homes of Cape Romano were still on (relatively) dry land in 2011, and one could access the second story level inside of one them.

Tropical Storm Issac officially sank the domes in August of 2012, and subsequent storms further eroded the Cape Romano shoreline. Finally, Hurricane Irma passed directly overhead on September 10, 2017 and collapsed two of the six domes.
