The dark legend of Kaya Kay Skellitonova and the Great White Alligator!
.
Local legend has it that the ghost of Kaya Kay eternally paddles the dark underworld of the Everglades Hell. It’s said that she can sometimes be seen as a skeleton like apparition, rising up when the Halloween time is near!
Kaya Kay Skellitonova was a pioneer Everglades gator hunter of old. She was the best at bringing in the big ones, right from her kayak! As the story goes, she once spotted a “Great White Alligator” that thrashed her boat and nearly capsized her. As the seasons went on, she grew more and more determined to seek out and hunt down this great beast! Eventually she was completely consumed by her quest and was never heard from again. So the legend was born and her last words were said to be
“Thus, I give up my euro paddle!”

A spooky Halloween kayaking apparition in the Everglades!
.

I wouldn’t tell you this forgotten story of “Kaya Kay” if I didn’t have the pics to prove that it happened! Just before Halloween as I was paddling deep in the Everglades interior, the skeletal apparition of Kaya Kay appeared to me. Once I got past a very awkward and somewhat scary introduction, I suggested we go for a paddle!
.
.
Since I already had my photo kit with me, I asked her for a model release so that I could do a mini photo shoot.
.
.
.
She was in good spirits and told me all about her newly carved Greenland stick!
.
.
.
It was a nice day and all fun and games until Kaya Kay mentioned something about a..
a, “big, um .. gator”.
.
.
.
It was also at this point that Kaya Kay took on an entirely different demeanor.
From this point on, she presented the aura of a very determined hunter!

The spooky sunlight shining through the Everglades jungle canopy finally revealed the
Great White Alligator!
.
.
The Great White Alligator snapped and lurched up from the dark depths of the Everglades.
A struggle ensued, this time with Kaya Kay Skellitonova eventually overcoming the great beast!
.
.
Kaya Kay screamed at the gator:
“To the last I will grapple with thee!
With my stick I stab at thee.
For eternity’s sake I spill my last breath on thee!”
.
.
.
Suddenly all I saw was a pile of bones! Alas, in the underworld of the Everglades Hell, Kaya Kay and the Great White Alligator are forever locked in an endless cycle of obsession, consumption and destruction.
.
.
Before I knew what was happening, Kaya Kay Skellitonova rose up, again, giggling and smiling.
Saying she was hot, she took off her PFD and said something about
“finding a great alligator..”!
.
.
.
Hhhhm, maybe I’ve heard all this before. It was like “Kaya Kay Day” – all over again.
What I do know for sure is that Kaya Kay Skellitonova will be back again.
Probably same time, same place!
